If for example you were a Euro Government Official highly influenced by the Pharmaceutical Industry to promote and push Nicotine Replacement Therapy the biggest threat to that industry is Snus. But that would not worry the Euro Government as they have had an EU ban on Snus for some time now.
However the new Tobacco Directive under review looks like it may have to lift the ban. Oh shit they think what about about the Millions of Euro’s NRP would loose.
What if they could destroy the Snus industry prior to the ban being lifted?
I know why not restrict some of the flavours used in the 200 year old snus recipe’s
That is what they plan to do.

Although it is inconvenient that snus is not available online for the Snusers in the EU from Swedish Snus shops I am now resigned to the fact that maybe it is a good thing in terms of keeping Belgium happy whilst they make their decision on the current tobacco directive.
I am sure we can source smokeless tobacco from shops outside of the EU no problem but what about Swedish Snus. As some you may know I made a couple of trips to Sweden last year. But did you know that I am still using the snus I brought back from the those trips. It keeps fresh in the freezer.
Given that you can fly cheap as chips with Ryan Air you can in theory get 6 months supply of snus in one trip. You can legally bring Snus back home with you as long as it is for your own use and not intended for resale.
Given that Sweden is a great place to visit why not just go for 4 weekend breaks over the next 2 years. By the end of 2014 there will be the final decision on whether or not the ban gets lifted. Invest in a big freezer and keep that snus fresh.
You can see the sights, enjoy the culture, fika etc.

You may remember a last year a Finish Cancer Organisation managed to have a Swedish Snus Vendor shutdown. Their method was to place online orders with Snus shops and ‘SnusWorldWide’ was the one that delivered them some snus. The Finish Anti Tobacco Nazis then pressured the Swedish Authorities to enforce a Swedish Law that prohibits snus sales outside of Sweden. The police were involved goods were seized and somebody got some jail time too I heard.
Anyhow here we go again. Here comes Round 2 in the fight.
Welcome to the Octagon in the blue corner some researchers from Bath University here in England.
Silvy Peeters and Anna B Gilmore from the Department of Health in Bath University did a more conclusive test of nearly all the Online Snus shops by placing orders from various EU member states and then recorded things such as prices, tax and delivery etc.
They submitted their report to the Tobacco Control Organisation who subsequently published it.
So as a result of this Northerner informed me that from February 6th 2012 they will no longer ship snus from Sweden to the EU. This includes all their sister sites such as snusuk etc.
The authors of this said research use the usual one sided view against snus with a feeling of venom claiming that t-shirts sporting logos such as ‘snus is the bomb’ ‘stop the eu ban’ encourages children to use tobacco. They make out like these snus shops are master criminals peddling in an evil drug avoiding tax and profiting from poor addicts.
What they fail to mention in their paper is that the Snus ban is most likely going to be lifted at the end of 2014. They fail to mention that in terms of harm reduction snus is relatively safe compared to other tobacco products.
EU smokeless tobacco lovers will still be able to order product from America this will mean longer delivery times and less choice. I love flying to Sweden so will continue on my snus runs every 4 months.

A few months ago during a visit to Sweden I was able to product test this new snus. Now it has finally been released. I loved it then and I love it now.
The first thing you will notice about this snus is the wonderful aroma of sweet melon that fills the room when you open the can. The flavour is a blast of fruit with a fast delivery of strong nicotine 14mg of nic per gram. 20 Portions per can.
It is slightly sweet and salty to taste and the melon flavour is the most pronounced. The flavour seems to last for ever and I can keep a portion in for an hour or more.
I like to start my day with coffee and a fat pinch of loose snus however Jacobbsons Melon Strong Portion satisfies just as much with a refreshing fruit blast and a strength comparable to loose snus.
Whenever a new snus is released I ask my none snusing colleagues at work to smell the product most of the time they say “how can you use that it smells like the garden” etc however everyone loves the Melon aroma and I convinced a few of my smoking friends to finally try snus.
This snus is not a traditional Swedish flavour but it is awesome and new snusers and traditional snusers should try this as soon as they can.
You can Preorder this snus here

Swedish Match have announced Kardus 2011 will be available in November.
The only thing they can tell us so far is that they think this one will be one of the best Kardus Swedish Match has made since the start back in 2005
This year’s Kardus stimulates the senses and delights the palate, with a unique profile that evokes the spirit and joy of Brazil. Finely selected Brazilian tobaccos, from the southern Rio Grande do Sul state, are craftfully blended and gently aromatized with cachaca, providing a flavor and finish that only this national liquor can give. With Kardus, Brazilian Carnaval comes alive in Sweden.
If you have never heard of Kardus Snus see my article What is Kardus? I am so looking forward to trying this snus. i got into kardus 3 yrs back. So it is nice that SM continue this christmas tradition.
